7. Roadtrippers
This app makes road trip planning so much easier for those of us who love planning but hate juggling a million different apps and tabs.
I discovered this app about eight months into our travels when I got tired of trying to plan our routes around must-see spots and checking them off our list.
Living on the road requires a certain level of planning. I’m not saying you need to be a first-class planner (cough cough, like me), but every evening, you need to ensure you have water, food, enough solar power, and a safe place to sleep. Add to that the hope of seeing some stunning views along the way, and that’s where Roadtrippers comes in.
Reliable Planning
With Roadtrippers, you can enter your route, and the app will show you different stops along the way—scenic spots, famous restaurants, historic landmarks, beautiful hikes, hidden gems, and even the cheapest gas stations.
Price and Availability
Currently, there is a free version with some limitations. There are also three different pricing plans, depending on which features are included.
Egal, ob du deine Reise im Detail planst oder die Dinge einfach auf dich zukommen lässt – unterwegs kann sich alles schnell ändern. Hier sind unsere Lieblings-Apps, die uns auf unseren Reisen schon oft geholfen haben.
8. OpenSignal - Find spots with great reception
Many people living on the road, whether full-time or part-time, heavily rely on working remotely. Whether you’re grinding out the 9 to 5 or freelancing, mobile coverage often plays a huge role in deciding where to visit and where to park up for the night. Before we discovered OpenSignal, my partner and I relied on trial and error to find that perfect spot where we could work and set up our Wi-Fi. There were days we’d spend hours driving from campsite to campsite just to find one with enough signal so we could work.
The Reliable Planner
OpenSignal is a map showing which areas have good coverage using a red-orange-green scale. It took SO much guesswork out of our daily routine, and the best part? It’s completely free.
Pricing and Availability
This app is entirely free to use, making it the ideal tool for anyone working remotely and living the nomadic lifestyle. But even if you’re just having a rainy day and fancy curling up to binge a series, it’s a must-have.
